Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Tim graduated with a BSc (Hons) First Class in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Middlesex University, his other qualifications include a Diploma in Addiction Studies from Dublin Business School, and a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from PCI College.
He is committed to continuing professional development and has completed training in other areas, including suicide and self-harm, childhood sexual abuse, trauma, mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Tim is an accredited member of the Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (IACP), and a Professional Member of the Association for Contextual Behavioural Science (ACBS). He also attends regular supervision as part of his ethical commitment to his work.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Tim works to empower and support clients, to explore their difficulties as deeply as possible, working towards insight, freedom, and fulfilment. He works with the conviction that the therapeutic relationship can be a profound vehicle for change when built on a foundation of mutual trust and respect.
His process is based on an integrative approach to therapy, meaning he draws from variety of well-established and cutting edge therapeutic orientations including: Humanistic and Existential, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Approached such as ACT and Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), and Psychodynamic Psychotherapy.
Tim is also passionate about the transformational potential of mindfulness and compassion based ways of relating to ourselves and others. He has over a decade of meditation practise including time on retreat. This experience informs his way of being with others and how he conceives of growth, healing and wellness.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Tim has years of experience and training working with a range of issues. He is especially interested in working with depression, anxiety, trauma, loss, addiction, low self-esteem, and issues around meaning and fulfilment.
