Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Tim graduated with a BSc (Hons) First Class in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Middlesex University, he also achieved a first-class honour in MSc Mindfulness Based Intervention from UCD. Tim’s other qualifications include a Professional Diploma in Addiction Studies from Dublin Business School, and a Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy from PCI College. In 2023 he was awarded the Mindfulness Award from the School of Psychology UCD.
He is committed to continuing professional development Tim has completed training in many other areas, including suicide and self-harm, childhood sexual abuse, trauma, mindfulness, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
Tim is an accredited member of the Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (IACP), and the Mindfulness Teachers Association or Ireland (MTAI). He also attends regular supervision as part of his commitment to his work.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Tim works to empower and support clients to explore their difficulties as deeply as possible. Working towards insight, freedom and greater fulfilment. He works with the conviction that the therapeutic relationship can be a profound vehicle for change when built on a foundation of mutual trust and respect.
His process is based on an integrative approach to therapy, meaning he draws from a variety of therapeutic orientations. Primarily Humanistic, Existential and Mindfulness-Based Approaches, such as ACT and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
Tim is also passionate about the transformational potential of mindfulness meditation. He has over a decade of experience with mindfulness meditation practice, including time on intensive silent retreats. This experience has informed his way of being with others, and how he conceives of growth, healing and human flourishing.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Tim has years of experience and training working with a range of issues. He is especially interested in working with depression, anxiety, trauma, loss, addiction, low self-esteem, and issues around meaning and fulfilment.
