Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation

Lucy is a fully qualified psychotherapist who has competed her four-year degree in ICPPD Galway. Lucy has recently completed her diploma course in Cognitive Behaviour therapy, also completing a certificate course in Trauma Informed Care. She is currently enrolled in her HDip in Psychology to gain a deeper understanding of the true authentic self, mind, body, and spirit

Lucy is a pre-accredited member of The Irish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP) and is dedicated to upholding their esteemed code of ethics and practice. With a strong commitment to both personal and professional growth, Lucy actively pursues continuous development by attending a range of workshops and online courses. This ongoing education allows her to stay current with the latest therapeutic techniques, enhancing the quality of care she offers to her clients.

Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

Lucy is currently expanding her practice through training in somatic therapy, an approach that recognises the deep connection between mind and body. Somatic therapy helps clients tune into the physical sensations that accompany emotions, stress, or trauma. By working gently with the body through mindful awareness, movement, and breathwork, clients can release tension, regulate their nervous system, and reconnect with a sense of safety and presence. This holistic approach supports healing on both emotional and physical levels, often helping clients feel more grounded, centred, and at ease in themselves.

Lucy has also completed training in trauma-informed practice, which informs the way she works with clients. Being trauma-informed means recognising the impact that trauma — whether from a single event or ongoing experiences — can have on a person’s mind, body, and sense of safety. It also means understanding that healing occurs most effectively in an environment of trust, collaboration, and empowerment.

With this knowledge, Lucy works sensitively, at each client’s own pace, always prioritising safety and choice. She helps clients build resilience, strengthen self-compassion, and gently process experiences that may feel overwhelming, without re-traumatisation. Her trauma-informed approach ensures clients feel seen, respected, and in control of their own healing journey.

Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest

Lucy completed her clinical placement with Mind & Body Works, where she gained valuable experience in supporting individuals from diverse backgrounds facing a variety of challenges. Her expertise includes helping clients manage issues such as anxiety, stress, depression, body image concerns, loneliness, relationship difficulties, and low self-esteem, among others. Lucy also has experience working with clients grief, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, individuals who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community and neurodivergent clients.

Couples Therapy

Lucy has recently completed a specialised certification in Couples Therapy, deepening her skills and understanding in supporting couples through a wide range of relational challenges. This training has enriched her therapeutic approach with evidence-based methods and practical tools to help partners communicate more effectively, rebuild trust, and navigate conflict with greater empathy and clarity.

Working with couples has been a particularly rewarding part of Lucy’s practice — she is continually inspired by the resilience and growth that can emerge when two people commit to doing the work together. Whether addressing long-standing patterns or navigating a current crisis, Lucy offers a grounded, compassionate space where both individuals feel heard and supported.
