Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest

Seeking support can feel like a difficult step, particularly when you have been carrying things on your own for a long time. Lucy works with adults experiencing a wide range of emotional, psychological, and life challenges, offering a warm and supportive space to explore whatever may be bringing them to therapy.

Many of the clients Lucy works with find that childhood experiences, family relationships, or difficult life events continue to impact their confidence, relationships, emotional wellbeing, and sense of self. Others may be struggling with anxiety, low mood, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, self-esteem, body image concerns, emotional burnout, or feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of everyday life.

Lucy also works with neurodivergent clients and individuals within the LGBTQIA+ community. She has a particular interest in supporting clients navigating fertility challenges, pregnancy loss, women’s wellbeing, identity and sexuality concerns, life transitions, people-pleasing patterns, perfectionism, self-criticism, and difficulties trusting themselves and their own decisions.

Her approach is warm, compassionate, and tailored to the individual, providing a safe and non-judgemental space where clients can develop a deeper understanding of themselves, process difficult experiences, strengthen self-awareness, and work towards meaningful and lasting change.

Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

Lucy is a humanistic and integrative psychotherapist, meaning her work is grounded in the belief that each person has the capacity for growth, healing, and self-understanding. She takes an integrated approach, drawing from a range of therapeutic models to support each client in a way that feels most appropriate to their individual needs and experiences.

At the core of her work is creating a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space where clients can explore themselves at their own pace. Lucy places strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, supporting clients in developing self-awareness, self-acceptance, and a deeper connection with their authentic self.

Lucy also incorporates somatic therapy into her work, recognising the deep connection between mind and body. This approach supports clients in tuning into the physical sensations that can go with emotions, stress, or trauma. Through gentle awareness, movement, and breathwork, clients can begin to release tension, regulate their nervous system, and reconnect with a sense of safety and presence.

Her work is further informed by trauma-informed practice. This means Lucy is mindful of the impact that trauma — whether from a single event or ongoing experiences — can have on a person’s mind, body, and sense of safety. She works sensitively and collaboratively, always prioritising each client’s pace, choice, and sense of control.

With this approach, Lucy supports clients in building resilience, strengthening self-compassion, and processing experiences in a way that feels safe and manageable. Her aim is to help clients feel seen, respected, and empowered within their own healing journey.

Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation

Lucy is a fully qualified psychotherapist who holds a four-year degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from ICPPD Galway. She has completed a range of additional training, including a diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, a diploma in Couples Therapy, and a diploma in Psychology, allowing her to work in an integrative and flexible way with each client.

She has also completed a certificate in Trauma-Informed Care and a specialised certificate in Trauma-Informed Somatic Breathwork. These approaches support Lucy in helping clients gently understand and regulate the impact of trauma, not only on the mind but within the body.

Lucy is currently undertaking a master’s degree in applied psychology at Northumbria University. This ongoing study continues to deepen her understanding of human behaviour and supports her in offering thoughtful, evidence-based care.

Her work is grounded in creating a safe, supportive space where clients can begin to explore themselves more openly, develop self-awareness, and reconnect with their authentic self across mind, body, and emotional experience.

Lucy is a pre-accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP) and is committed to working in line with their professional and ethical standards. She values both personal and professional growth and regularly engages in further training and development to ensure she is offering the best possible support to her clients.
