Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation

Joe holds a BA(hons) degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Dublin Business School (DBS), and a Certificate in counselling and psychotherapeutic studies from the IICP college.

Joe is a pre-accredited member of the Irish association for counselling and psychotherapy (IACP). He abides by their code of ethics, and attends regular supervision as part of this ethical commitment.

Joe is committed to continuous training and ongoing professional development. He has completed his Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASSIST), and continues to attend training workshops and seminars.

Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

Joe’s approach is Humanistic and Integrative, and draws on a range of therapeutic models including Psychodynamic, Person-centred, and existential.

Joe emphasises the value of the relationship between client and therapist in the process of therapy. He believes in each individual’s capacity to draw on their inner resources when navigating current difficulties. Joe’s aim is to encourage this by assisting clients to relate to their experience in new ways, with a view to living more freely.

Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest

Joe’s previous background is in business. Before training as a Psychotherapist, Joe spent several years working in a variety of management roles within the retail sector. Joe’s previous experience includes supporting third level students in the provision of student counselling services.

Joe has experience working with a variety of issues including stress, depression, relationship issues, past traumas, abuse, loss and grief, self-esteem, life meaning, personal identity, loneliness and isolation, work-related issues.

Joe’s areas of interest include anxiety, OCD, life transitions, family dynamics, anger management.
