Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Brenda has been working in full-time private practice since 1989. She has worked extensively with early developmental trauma and attachment issues. She has always had a particular interest in the role of the body in psychotherapy and the treatment of trauma. With this interest, Brenda began training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for the Treatment of Trauma in 2005. She achieved her Certification as an Advanced Level Practitioner in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy in 2017 and this has become the main focus of her practice.
Brenda trained as a Rebirthing Breathwork Therapist with the LRT (Loving Relationships Training) founded by Bob Mandel and Sondra Ray and received her Sponsorship certificate from that organization in 1994. She has also trained extensively in body-centred therapies which she integrates into her clinical practice.
Brenda is also a workshop facilitator and founding member of the Rebirthing Psychotherapy Association. She attends regular supervision as part of her ethical commitment to her work and abides by the code of ethics outlined by IAHIP. Brenda is also involved in the Continuous Professional Development of Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Practitioners in Ireland.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Brenda’s gentle holistic approach works particularly well with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, bullying, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), chronic pain and the trauma that can result from invasive medical procedures such as surgery and chemotherapy.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Brenda also works with trans-generational trauma, life changes and transitions, bereavement and the challenges of caring for loved ones when they can no longer care for themselves.
For Rebirthing Breathwork, Brenda would usually hold an initial consultation of approximately one hour to access a client’s requirements and their suitability to undergo breathwork therapy.
Brenda is also available to present talks on wellness and stress management.
