Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Nuala holds a Master’s degree in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy from the Tivoli Institute, Dublin, awarded by South East Technological University (SETU). She is a pre-accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and adheres to their standards of practice and ethical guidelines. Nuala’s commitment to professional excellence is reflected in her ongoing participation in continuous professional development and attendance at regular supervision sessions. Additionally, Nuala holds a Diploma in Reflexology from the Irish School of Herbal Medicine and she is also a qualified yoga (RYS200) and meditation teacher with extensive training in Jon Kabat Zinn’s mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) program.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Nuala’s therapeutic approach is integrative and humanistic, drawing on person-centred and psychodynamic principles. She incorporates modalities such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), mindfulness, psychosynthesis, and existentialism as appropriate to each client’s needs. Nuala is dedicated to fostering a strong therapeutic alliance, underpinned by values of unconditional positive regard, authenticity, compassion, and respect. Her aim is to provide a calm, empathetic, and non-judgmental space where clients feel seen and heard.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Since qualifying as a Psychotherapist in 2024 Nuala has gained experience in working with a number of presenting issues including relationship challenges, anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, bereavement, self-esteem issues, and other areas of human distresses. Nuala supports clients in addressing these issues, both from short-term challenges to long-term unresolved traumas, and she strives to equip clients with resources for ongoing healing. Nuala views each client as multi-dimensional, working to promote well-being within mind, body, and spirit.
Nuala’s particular areas of interest include existential therapy, spirituality, psychosynthesis, and the exploration of meaning in life and personal growth. She has a deep appreciation for Eastern culture and philosophy, which informs her holistic approach and the integration of mind-body practices into her therapeutic work. Nuala is a passionate traveller, which she views as a means of broadening her perspective and understanding of humanity and all its diversity.
In addition to her psychotherapeutic work. Nuala’s core training also includes a Master’s in Biomedical Science from the University of Ulster, Coleraine and she has more than 20 years’ experience working in healthcare and delivering large complex projects in the health technology industry. Nuala has a deep understanding of working in high-pressure and challenging environments.
