Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Niamh is an experienced psychotherapist with a specialist interest in bereavement and loss, as well as anxiety and depression. She recognises that loss is a fundamental part of the human experience and can take many forms across the lifespan. Niamh works with individuals navigating the loss of a loved one, the ending of relationships—both romantic and platonic—as well as losses related to employment, health, identity, and self-confidence.
She provides a compassionate and supportive space where clients can explore and process their experiences at their own pace. Niamh holds the belief that each client is the expert on their own life and works collaboratively to support their unique healing process. In addition to talk therapy, Niamh offers a range of therapeutic approaches tailored to individual needs. She is trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), an evidence-based psychotherapy approach that supports clients in processing and resolving the impact of trauma and distressing life experiences. Niamh also incorporates art therapy and sand tray therapy, offering creative and non-verbal ways for clients to explore emotions, particularly when experiences may be difficult to express in words. Niamh has been practising psychotherapy since 2017.Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Niamh’s approach to counselling and psychotherapy is holistic, person-centred, and integrative. Drawing from humanistic principles, she works to create a safe, non-judgemental, and empathetic therapeutic environment. She places strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship, recognising it as central to fostering trust and meaningful change.
Through collaboration, Niamh supports clients in exploring their experiences, deepening self-awareness, and working towards their individual goals in a way that respects their autonomy and inner resources. Her work is influenced by the writings of Roberto Assagioli, who emphasised the importance of inner integration and self-realisation: “Let us examine whether and how it is possible to solve this central problem of human life, to heal this fundamental infirmity of man. Let us see how he may free himself from this enslavement and achieve an harmonious inner integration, true Self-realization, and right relationships with others.”Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
