Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Maryrose has experience supporting individuals through anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, burnout and performance pressure, low mood, grief, relationship difficulties, life transitions and the overwhelm that can come from juggling the demands of everyday life.
Maryrose has a particular interest in relationships, working with individuals making sense of the patterns and challenges in their relational lives, and with couples navigating what has become difficult between them. She works with communication breakdown, conflict, distance and disconnection, the patterns that keep two people stuck even when they both want things to be different. She also supports people through relationship loss, significant endings and the grief that comes with major life change.
She is particularly drawn to working with people who are used to holding everything together and who find it hardest to ask for help when they are struggling. She has a genuine belief in every person’s capacity for growth and positive change.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Maryrose’s approach is integrative and person-centred. She approaches her work with curiosity and compassion, helping people understand themselves more deeply and find their own way forward. She brings warmth and empathy to every session, creating a space where people feel truly held, heard and supported.
Some people come for focused, practical work using CBT, building tools to manage anxiety, low mood or stress. Others are ready to explore more deeply the patterns and experiences that have shaped how they feel and relate. Maryrose works comfortably with both.
Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Maryrose is a fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist and a Pre-Accredited Member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). She attends regular clinical supervision and is committed to ongoing training and ethical practice.
She trained at Dublin Business School, graduating with a BA (Hons) in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Her graduating thesis explored how digital communication shapes modern relationships, an interest that continues to inform her work with individuals and couples. In 2025, Maryrose completed a further qualification in Couples Therapy from the Institute of Couples Therapy and has completed SafeTALK Suicide Alertness Training through the HSE National Office for Suicide Prevention.
Before becoming a therapist, Maryrose spent years in the corporate world and founded her own business. Her firsthand understanding of the pressures of professional life, the demands of high-paced environments, burnout and the difficulty of asking for help when you are the one expected to hold everything together, informs everything about how she works with her clients today.
Maryrose believes that when people begin to understand the patterns shaping their lives and relationships, real and lasting change becomes possible. That belief is what drew her to this work and remains at the heart of everything she does.
