Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Dympna believes that emotions are what make us human and guide our progress through life. She uses a person-centred, humanistic and integrative approach. She aims to create a warm, safe and confidential space where clients feel respected, heard and understood. Working collaboratively with clients Dympna encourages the exploration of unexpressed inner feelings which can sometimes be so intense that they lead to confusion, hurt and anger. She believes that each client is unique and recognises the courage it takes to fight the fears that might keep a person ‘stuck’. Where appropriate, Dympna helps clients recognise their harsh inner critic and encourages self-compassion so a client can treat themselves with the same warmth they would offer to a close friend.
