Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Rebecca has extensive experience working with adults and young people across a range of mental health settings. She has supported individuals navigating experiences of low mood, anxiety, panic, grief and loss, diagnosed with personality disorders, eating distress and disordered eating behaviour, obsessive-compulsive difficulties, low self-worth, relationship challenges, suicidal ideation, and the impact of trauma.
At the heart of Rebecca’s work is a deep respect for each person’s unique lived experience. She understands that people come to therapy for many different reasons. Some may be carrying significant emotional pain and seeking support through particularly challenging periods of life, while others may be curious about themselves, wanting to better understand their patterns, relationships, emotions, or personal history. Whatever brings someone to therapy, Rebecca aims to offer a space where they feel genuinely heard, accepted, and understood.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Rebecca is trained in a number of therapeutic modalities, including Person-Centred Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Psychodynamic Therapy. Rebecca’s practice is influenced by attachment and psychoneurodevelopment theory, Internal Family Systems and the Power-Threat Meaning Framework. While these approaches inform her work, she remains guided primarily by the individual needs of each client rather than by any single therapeutic model.
Her practice is integrative and collaborative, allowing her to tailor the therapeutic process to the individual. Rebecca seeks to meet clients where they are, working alongside them at a pace that feels manageable and meaningful. She values the client's autonomy and trusts in each person's innate capacity for growth, healing, and self-understanding.
Central to Rebecca’s approach is the therapeutic relationship itself. She believes that meaningful change is often rooted in the experience of being met with empathy, authenticity, and acceptance. Rebecca endeavours to create a warm, safe, and non-judgemental environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences openly. Through a relationship grounded in trust, honesty, and genuine human connection, she aims to support clients in developing a deeper understanding of themselves and moving towards the changes they wish to make in their lives.
