Biography

Derek supports adults facing a wide variety of emotional, psychological, and life-related challenges. These include low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, stress, relationship difficulties, workplace issues, and personal development.

He also has experience supporting individuals dealing with bereavement and loss, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), ADHD, and the lasting impact of childhood trauma in adulthood.

Many people come to therapy with a sense that something isn’t quite right, even if they can’t fully put it into words. Derek offers a space where those feelings can be explored safely and at your own pace.

Derek has extensive experience working with people who are caring for family members with dementia, long-term illness, or children with additional or special needs. He understands the emotional and practical demands these roles can bring.

At the heart of Derek’s approach is the belief that developing greater self-awareness and understanding can lead to meaningful growth. Therapy can help uncover inner strengths, build resilience, and support you in moving toward a more fulfilling and authentic life. He aims to create a calm, compassionate environment where you feel heard, supported, and empowered.

As a parent himself, Derek appreciates the complexities and pressures of family life. This lived experience informs his particular interest in supporting parents and families of children with special needs, helping them navigate challenges while also recognising their resilience and capacity for growth.
