Biography

Declan only works with adolescent clients, aged 13-25 years old.

Declan is a dedicated and highly qualified professional. He holds a Master’s in Counselling & Psychotherapy from the Irish College of Humanities & Applied Science, Limerick, where he received training in therapeutic approaches that are grounded in both theory and practice.

Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest

Declan specializes in guiding young people through the turbulence of adolescence, addressing issues such as anxiety, depression, mood swings, low motivation, grief, self-esteem and confidence, identity formation, peer relationship struggles, family conflict, school avoidance, academic stress, social isolation, and the impact of social media on mental health, body image, and self-esteem.

He has developed significant experience working in secondary schools, helping students navigate academic pressures, social dynamics, and emotional difficulties. Additionally, he has experience working with both the No.4 Youth Service and Jigsaw Galway, supporting teenagers and young adults as they manage the complexities of adolescent development and mental health concerns.

With a comprehensive background in social care, where he supported individuals with diverse needs and abilities. Declan applies this experience to offer therapeutic support to neurodivergent young people, including those who identify as autistic, ADHD, and dyslexic. He helps them navigate their unique strengths and challenges while fostering confidence, resilience, and self-acceptance.
