Biography

Ann has years of experience working with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, self-harm, relationship issues, anger management, suicidal thoughts, loss or bereavement, sexual abuse, and deeply held trauma. Ann also has experience of working with clients with ADHD, ASD and OCD. Ann is particularly interested in developing any person she works with a deeper understanding of themselves which allows the person to live authentically and in accordance with their own personal identity.

Ann initially qualified as a Humanistic Psychotherapist and later as a Group Analyst. Ann also has a Post-Graduate Certificate in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and is a Parentsplus trainer for Parents of Adolescents.

Ann is an accredited Psychotherapist and Supervisor with the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP).

Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest.

Ann has years of experience working with Adults and Adolescents in a variety of settings and with a wide range of issues such as anxiety, depression, self harm, relationship issues, anger management, suicidal thoughts, loss or bereavement, sexual abuse or deeply held trauma. Ann also has experience of working with clients with ADHD, ASD and OCD. When Ann works with Adolescents she includes parents/ carers to attend as required for Parental Input sessions. Some issues Adolescents need support with are school truancy, anger management, self esteem, gender identity, neurodiversity. Ann is particularly interested in developing in any person she works with a deeper understanding of themselves which allows the person to live authentically and in accordance with their own personal identity. In Supervision, Ann offers supervisees the opportunity to explore their work openly and engagingly. Ann is especially interested in learning from countertransference experiences.

Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

Ann’s approach is humanistic and integrative. She believes in working with Adults and Adolescents that her role is to support and facilitate a person to gain a meaningful understanding of what causes problems in their life. This enables a person to embrace a life suited to their needs and desires. Working with Adolescents, Ann, meets with parents/carers initially and then aims to work fortnightly with the teen, if appropriate. Ann requires written consent to work with under 18 year olds. Ann offers clients a safe and confidential experience to address whatever personal issues they are seeking help with.

Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation

Ann initially qualified as a Humanistic Psychotherapist and later as a Group Analyst. She is currently completing a Masters in Leadership, Innovation and Management in Healthcare. Ann is an accredited Psychotherapist and Supervisor with the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP) and abides by their code of ethics. Ann is committed to on-going training and professional development, regularly participates in training workshops and seminars, and attends monthly supervision.
