Psychotherapy Experience

Allison has worked psychotherapeutically with diverse individuals and couples since 2005.  Her clinical experience includes but is not restricted to emotional estrangement, intimacy issues, financial disparities, communication differences and connections, conflict resolution, divorce, separation, depression and differing parenting styles. Allison also offers counselling to those who are struggling to come to terms with the loss of a relationship and struggling to move forward with their life as a single person. Many people come to therapy to work through these issues in a non-judgmental space, independent of family and friends.  Allison provides a safe space where clients can uncover their own strengths and resources to deal with life’s many challenges.

Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

Allison is relationship focused when working with clients. She and her clients work together to explore the potential and possibilities of their relationships.  The aim of the therapeutic space is to work collaboratively to attempt to co-create a framework in which the clients can thrive, grow, and reach their life goals. This is an approach which is positive, forward thinking, and creative. It is a warm, empathic approach that helps clients explore blocks to progress and uncover ways, specific to them to get past these blocks.   Allison’s approach is a solution focused one which is realistic and pragmatic, helping clients to overcome seemingly intractable problems and to move towards successful coupledom. In cases where a couple’s relationship is no longer useful for one or both clients. Allison’s work with her clients moves into dealing with the practical and emotional aspects of parting.  It is here that the therapeutic space is one of bereavement, practicality and hopefully a look towards a positive and regenerative future for both parties.

Psychology and Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation

Allison holds Degree in Psychology from the Open University.  She also holds a Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Couples and Relationships) and a Master’s Degree in Psychotherapy (Couples and Relationships) from Dublin City University. Allison holds various certificates and qualifications in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Human Resources Management and has undergone extensive training around Safe Relationships. She is a fully accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and is a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland.
