Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
I work with clients dealing with whatever presentation or issue they are living through. Particular areas of interest include but are not limited to; Bereavement and Loss, LGBTQIA2S+ Issues, Wellbeing & Recovery, Chronic Pain & Illness, ASD Familial Dynamics & ASD Individual Focused, Identity, Trauma, Emotional Disturbance, BPD, Life Transitions, Addiction and Familial Relationship Issues. Using Freudian and Lacanian theory as a foundation, I help weave threads from your past and present through a contemporary societal lens that respects and considers the intersections your identity inhabits and the subjectivity of your world. I am interested in inviting you to witness the powerful impact of how you can discover, acknowledge and utilise your key drives and desires while challenging unconscious compulsions and limited cycles you may have through speaking.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Alison welcomes clients from any walk of life. She works in a psychoanalytic capacity which means the sessions are guided by the client's words and curiosity of themselves and the narrative in which they live through. Whether in crisis, a period of struggle or wanting to explore more of your personhood, what you have to say is very important and through psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapeutic work, real change and evolution is possible. Through weekly or twice weekly sessions, you will be able to hear yourself authentically, whether it be for the first time, building upon your understanding of yourself or about a particular issue. Unlike a prescriptive modality, psychoanalysis allows for a profound level of depth in speaking that respects the complexities involved in your experiences; what it is that is keeping you stuck, repeating and in an dysfunctional spiral. Using Freudian and Lacanian theory as a foundation, I help weave threads from your past and present through a contemporary societal lens that respects and considers the intersections your identity inhabits. Sessions are 30mins for psychoanalysis or 50 mins for psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
