Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Ruth is a specialist couple and psychosexual therapist with considerable experience helping couples and individuals develop healthier, more satisfying relationships. She works with a wide range of relationship and sexual difficulties, including challenges with intimacy, communication, differences in desire, sexual dysfunctions, and compulsive sexual behaviours.
Ruth works collaboratively with her clients, recognising that each person and each relationship is unique. She aims to create a safe, respectful and non-judgmental space where sensitive or difficult issues can be explored openly and at a pace that feels manageable.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Ruth’s approach is integrative, drawing particularly on Relational Transactional Analysis, psychodynamic thinking, systemic perspectives, and elements of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Through this work, she supports clients in understanding the relational and emotional patterns that shape their experiences, helping them develop greater awareness, choice and the possibility of more fulfilling connections.Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Ruth has undertaken considerable postgraduate training in relationship and psychosexual therapy. She holds a BSc in Psychology and trained as a Transactional Analysis Psychotherapeutic Counsellor at the Metanoia Institute in London. She later completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosexual and Relationship Therapy accredited by Middlesex University.
Before training as a therapist, Ruth initially trained as a lawyer. This earlier professional experience contributes to her thoughtful and reflective approach, particularly when working with complex relational dynamics and life transitions.
She is a registered member of the College of Sex and Relationship Therapy (COSRT) and the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Please note that Ruth is UK-based and is registered with accredited UK organisations. As such, her receipts may not be accepted by Irish health insurance providers.Ruth's fee per session is €80 for individuals and €95 for couples
