Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation

Rosina (Ros) graduated with a BA(Hons) in Psychology in 1994 from University College Dublin. In 1999, she completed a two-year training on the Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Counselling at Trinity College Dublin (TCD).  In 2002, she obtained her MSc in Psychotherapy (psychodynamic) from University College Dublin (UCD). Ros is a full member of the Irish Council for Psychotherapy (MICIP).  She is an accredited member and supervisor of the Irish Psycho-Analytic Association, and abides by their code of ethics.  Ros works in English and in Italian.

Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

No two people experience life’s difficulties in the same way.  For this reason, Ros explores options with each person so that therapy is tailored to their individual needs.  She does this with a belief that we all need to explore what is troubling us at our own pace. Ros works on the principle that we should all experience and understand our own unique issues in an open and safe environment.  She draws on both the humanistic and psychodynamic approaches, and has worked with a wide a range of issues over the past 15 years.  These include: bereavement and loss, transitions and life changes, work related issues, trauma, both past and present, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, work and study related problems, general life stresses and personal development. Life transitions and new beginnings include:  moving from one country to another, retirement, divorce, separation, bereavement, adult children leaving home, parenthood and return to work after maternity leave.  Or simply, managing the stresses of work, home and any other significant changes.

Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest

Ros has worked in private practice for 15 years, from 2002 to the present.  She has also worked with domestic abuse and the long term unemployed within the voluntary sector, from 1997 to 2004.  She worked as a trainer and lecturer on the BA in Counselling and Psychotherapy at Dublin Business School (DBS), from 2001 to 2015. Ros has also lectured in Psychology at the Open University and Independent Colleges with emphases on culture and mental health.  She explores how social impacts on our wellbeing, change and transition over our life-span. She has a special interest in the impact of life transitions and changes on our wellbeing, whether due to leaving home to work in a different country, or the more varied opportunities open to women whose children are now grown up.   Whether welcome or not, life transitions can come at the price of loss of the familiar, and a step into the unknown. They may impact on our self- confidence and our sense of place in the world.

Tirocinio in psicoterapia e accreditamento

Ros ha conseguito una Laurea (BA(Hons)) in Psicologia nel 1994 allo University College Dublin. Ha in seguito svolto un tirocinio di due anni conseguendo il Diploma in Counselling Umanistico Integrato presso il Trinity College Dublin nel 1999. Nel 2002 ha conseguito la Laurea magistrale (MSc) in Psicoterapia (psicodinamica) allo University College Dublin. È membro a pieno titolo dell’Irish Council of Psycoterapy (MICIP) e membro accreditato e supervisore dell’Irish Psycho-Analytic Association, dei quali osserva il codice etico. Ros lavora in inglese e in italiano.

Counselling e approccio psicoterapeutico

Ogni individuo vive le difficoltà della vita in maniera diversa. Per questo motivo, Ros esplora possibili alternative per ogni persona, personalizzandole in base ai bisogni individuali. Crede, infatti, che ciascuno di noi abbia bisogno di esplorare ciò che lo opprime con i propri tempi e basa il suo lavoro sul principio che noi tutti dovremmo vivere, e comprendere, le nostre particolari problematiche in un ambiente aperto e sicuro. Attinge sia all’approccio umanistico che a quello psicodinamico e nel corso degli ultimi 15 anni si è occupata di svariate problematiche, tra le quali:- lutto e perdita, transizioni e cambiamenti di vita, problemi legati al lavoro, traumi sia passati che presenti, ansia, depressione, problemi relazionali, problemi legati allo studio, situazioni di stress della vita in generale e sviluppo della consapevolezza e dell’identità. Le transizioni di vita e i nuovi inizi comprendono: il trasferimento in un altro paese, la pensione, il divorzio, la separazione, il lutto, i figli maggiorenni che lasciano casa, la genitorialità, il rientro a lavoro dopo la maternità, o semplicemente la gestione delle situazioni di stress a lavoro e a casa e qualsiasi altro cambiamento importante.

Esperienza nell’ambito del counselling e aree di interesse

Ros ha esercitato la libera professione per 15 anni, dal 2002 a oggi. Si è occupata anche di abuso domestico e disoccupati di lunga durata nel settore del volontariato dal 1997 al 2004. Dal 2001 al 2015 ha lavorato come trainer e docente nel corso di laurea in Counselling e Psicologia della Dublin Business School.  Ha, inoltre, svolto docenze di Psicologia presso la Open University e gli Independent colleges approfondendo temi quali cultura e salute mentale, impatto del sociale sul nostro benessere, cambiamenti e transizioni nel corso della vita. Il suo principale interesse è l’impatto delle transizioni e cambiamenti della vita sul nostro benessere, in particolare quelli determinati dal trasferimento in un altro paese per ragioni lavorative oppure dalle diverse opportunità aperte alle donne i cui figli sono diventati grandi. Che siano benvenute o no, le transizioni di vita possono sopraggiungere a costo della perdita del familiare rappresentando un salto nell’ignoto. Esse possono influire in modi diversi sulla fiducia in se stessi e sulla percezione di se stessi nel mondo.
