Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation

Janet holds a bachelor’s degree in social science from University College Dublin, a Master’s Degree in Sociology, and an MSc in Systemic Psychotherapy. Janet is a registered member of the Family Therapy Association of Ireland (FTAI) and abides by their code of ethics.

Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

Janet is a systemic psychotherapist with a long-standing interest in people, their relationships, and the stories that shape their lives. Her approach to therapy is open, practical, and collaborative, grounded in the belief that clients are the experts in their own lives. Janet’s therapeutic approach is grounded in systemic thinking, exploring how patterns in relationships and broader social contexts shape people’s lives. She works collaboratively, drawing on narrative practices that invite reflection on personal and relational stories. Her aim is to help clients uncover strengths, reshape unhelpful narratives, and create new possibilities for change and connection.

Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest

Janet works with clients from a wide range of backgrounds and life experiences. She offers a compassionate and thoughtful therapeutic space where clients are supported to explore new perspectives, strengthen relationships, and find meaningful ways forward. She has worked in a range of settings, including psychiatric services, voluntary organisations, educational settings, and community-based family support, supporting individuals, couples, and families through a wide variety of emotional challenges and life transitions. Janet works with adults, couples, adolescents (alongside their caregivers), and families. She has a particular interest in supporting parents facing challenges related to their children’s emotional or behavioural difficulties, and in helping couples strengthen their relationships and work through issues such as communication, conflict, or trust. She also supports individuals with concerns such as anxiety, trauma, grief, low self-esteem, and a desire for deeper self-understanding.
