Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Diane Anglim holds a Diploma in play therapy, and a Masters in child and adolescent psychotherapy with the Childrens Therapy Centre (QQI certified, level 9). She has completed trainings in suicide intervention (ASIST) and approaches to working with self-harm (USH). She is fully accredited with both IAPTP and IAHIP. She adheres to the ethics and recommended working practices of both organisations. Diane also holds a degree in Music, and a higher diploma in education from NUI Maynooth.Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Diane works from a humanistic perspective. This allows the client the space to follow their own therapy journey and find their unique voice. She believes that the strength of the relationship between therapist and client is the path to trust, development, and healing. Her methods are integrative, meaning she uses elements of different therapeutic approaches to tailor to client’s needs. These can include humanistic psychotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), and Jungian psychotherapy. Within these models, Diane offers clients the use of a wide range of creative media, including musical instruments, art materials, sand trays, role play, physical toys, and sensory play trays. When working with younger clients Diane uses play therapy techniques to allow children to communicate and process through their senses. Young children do not have the language capabilities of adults - they communicate with us through their imaginative play. When working with older children and adolescents, Diane may facilitate more creative media activities. Neurologically, this allows the young person the chance to relax, to speak more freely and to access their inner selves.Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Diane has experience working in educational and community settings, along with private practice. She works with a variety of issues including (but not limited to) parental separation, grief or loss, bullying, anxiety, depression, ADHD, Dyspraxia and/or emotional and social difficulties. Her first interest is in the client themselves. By working together, they can move towards regulation of the body and emotions, self-discovery and self-esteem. This work is done in a collaborative way - parents and caregivers are fully involved in supporting the process. A parental intake meeting, along with regular parental review meetings will take place.Diane’s fee is €80 per session
