Bridie holds a Diploma in Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy from the Flatstone Institute in Cork. This qualification includes training in the Person Centred approach, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Solution Focussed Therapy and Gestalt Therapy. She is committed to ongoing training and professional development, regularly attending workshops, trainings and seminars. Bridie continues to engage with Madison Gestalt Training and attends a Gestalt Supervision group in Edinburg. She also attends one to one supervision. Bridie is a fully accredited member of Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP) and adheres to their Professional Code of Ethics and Practice.Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Bridie is an integrative therapist with particular focus on the Humanistic, Person Centred and Gestalt approaches. Her practice reflects her life’s experience, training and personal style. Bridie's belief is that each of us has the potential for healthy development and growth. She believes that working in a relational, embodied and dialogic approach, discovering together and with awareness we can grow and evolve to have a more choiceful and satisfying life. Bridie recognises the value of each person’s uniqueness and individuality. She feels privileged when working with clients, creating a space that allows each person to feel sufficiently safe to experience themselves in the presence of another, to be vulnerable, to be flawed and to be powerful ------- the uniqueness of being human.Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Bridie's background is in mental health which involved working within the hospital setting and later in the community. Since qualifying as a psychotherapist, Bridie has worked in several different organizations before moving into private practice. Bridie has experienced that as we transition through life, different challenges come our way, the unfamiliar, the unknown and how we adopt to these changes and what now? She understands how therapy can support us in this transition. Her work includes a wide area of issues which include but is not limited to anxiety, low self-esteem, relational issues, separation, loneliness, depression, despair, grief and loss, and the aging process.
