Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation

James trained with Tracht Psychotherapy Foundation in Kinvara.  He graduated with a Diploma in Biodynamic & Integrative Psychotherapy and a Certificate in Biodynamic Massage.

He is a pre-accredited member with the Irish Association of Body Psychotherapy (IABP), and also with the Irish Association of Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapists (IAHIP).

Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

For James, psychotherapy is a journey of exploration where one person (the client) decides to allow another person (the therapist) into their inner world. As the client is the one taking the risk, it is imperative that they control the pace of the journey.

The role of the therapist is to accept the client’s invitation, to dare to accompany the client on their inner journey, and to support them as they navigate towards their own ‘true north’.

As a guiding principle, James looks to ‘follow the red thread’ – to stay attuned with the energy in the room. Like sailors using the stars to determine their direction of travel, James looks for signs of aliveness and vibrancy (in his clients but also in himself) and uses them to assist his clients as they move towards healthy expression (of their feelings and emotions).

Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest

James has experience in one-to-one psychotherapy, in biodynamic massage, and in facilitating groups.

He works with clients who are struggling with anger, anxiety, loneliness, low self-esteem, grief, and depression.

James has a particular interest in body (or somatic) psychotherapy but is broadly in favour of any intervention which helps people to rediscover their innate capacity to live their lives more easily, more fully and more joyously.
