Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Nicola holds a BA(Hons) in Counselling & Psychotherapy since 2009. Nicola is committed to continued professional development, and since obtaining her degree Nicola has attended several training courses and workshops. Her most recent continued professional development courses include Autism Informed Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Awareness and Education Around Menopause, Working with Traumatic Bereavement and Domestic Violence and Mental Health.
Nicola is a fully accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), and abides by their code of ethics and attends regular supervision
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Nicola works from a mainly Humanistic/Integrative perspective, but understands each client is unique, and not every individual benefits from the same treatment approach and therefore incorporates various therapeutic approaches such as CBT, Solution-focused or Psychodynamic Therapy.
Nicola works with clients on a one-to-one basis, in a way that is best suited to their individual needs so they can explore their thoughts and feelings to better understand the particular circumstances or issues that are problematic for them and draws on their strengths and resources in order to enhance the quality of their lives.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Nicola has been working as a Psychotherapist/Counsellor for over 15 years in various organisation as well as in private practice. This has provided her with a wide range of experience in helping clients who have a high level of needs. She has worked with people dealing with various issues such as substance misuse, domestic violence, suicidal ideation, childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault.
Nicola’s areas of interest include anxiety, family difficulties, autism, workplace issues, self-care, trauma, grief and loss, stress, sexuality, self-esteem, intimacy and relationships.
