Emer is a fully qualified psychotherapist, she received her training with the Tivoli Institute
Emer is a fully accredited member of the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) (M10333). and abides by the code of ethics set down her professional body (IACP). She is committed to continue professional and personal growth.
Emer is a dynamic and versatile psychotherapy graduate with over 13 years of facilitation skills in designing and implementing workshops in grief recovery, traumatic areas, mediation, group work and personal development.
It was Emer’s genuine interest to assist and empower people that led her to pursue a qualification in psychotherapy and counselling.
Emer is also a qualified massage therapist, working with various types of massage such as holistic, deep tissue, pre/post natal, cancer support and trigger point.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Emer’s therapy approach is client centered and humanistic, she also practices CBT. Her therapy sessions are tailored to the clients needs.
Emer uses her strong interpersonal and intrapersonal skills along with her natural aptitude for working with people to provide the best therapeutic experience for her clients.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Emer has over 13 years hands on experience working with clients and groups in mental health issues from anxiety to self harm and suicidal ideation using therapeutic interventions tailored to fit the client’s needs.
Emer was lead facilitator and clinical psychotherapist with First Light in Galway working with bereaved parents on a one to one and a group setting.
Emer has a particular interest in supporting clients with depression, anxiety, clients working through a serious illness diagnosis, during and after recovery, grief / bereavement and couples counselling.
