How do I find a therapist?

Choosing a therapist can feel like a significant decision. You want someone who will genuinely listen and understand your situation. With so many options available, the process can seem daunting.

Our team at Mind and Body Works can simplify this for you. We understand each therapist’s strengths and specialisms, so we can guide you towards someone well suited to your particular concerns. Our therapists adapt their approach to fit your needs, recognising that the relationship between you and your therapist is central to effective therapy.

Location matters too. Attending sessions regularly is easier when the journey isn’t adding stress to your week. For Clonskeagh residents, Mind and Body Works operates three centres nearby: Wicklow Street (Dublin 2), Donnybrook (Dublin 4) and Dundrum (Dublin 14).

We have over 150 therapists working both in-person and online, offering services to adults, teenagers, couples, families and children. We also provide low-cost counselling for students, people on reduced incomes, and those working part-time.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Who is psychotherapy for?

Anyone facing emotional difficulties or significant life changes can benefit from therapy. You might want an outside perspective on your situation, or space to talk through something you can’t easily discuss with friends or family.

Aware’s 2024 national survey found that three in four Irish adults have experienced anxiety, while three in five have experienced depression. These are common struggles, and seeking support for them is increasingly common.

You don’t need to wait until things feel unmanageable. If you’re noticing patterns in your behaviour or thinking that concern you, therapy can help you understand and address them before they escalate.

You do not need to have hit ‘rock bottom’ before starting counselling or psychotherapy. If you start to recognise behaviour patterns within yourself or your life that you are not comfortable with you can work with a therapist to understand how to manage your behaviours before you feel that you are in crisis.

Is my therapist qualified?

Every therapist at Mind and Body Works has completed professional training in psychotherapy. Many hold additional qualifications in specialist areas such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychosexual therapy, or couples work. Each therapist is accredited with recognised bodies including the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP), or the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).

Our counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists work collaboratively with you to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours affecting your life. Research confirms that talking therapies are effective treatments for common mental health difficulties. Through talk therapy, you have the opportunity to gain an understanding of your patterns, as well as working on the confidence to change them.
