Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Niamh holds a Masters of Science in Integrative Psychotherapy from Dublin City University (DCU). Niamh has completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Trauma Studies from University College Cork (UCC) and an Undergraduate degree in Psychology from University College Dublin (UCD). She is a Yoga Teacher and experienced Group Facilitator of Women’s well-being groups. Niamh is a Pre-accredited Integrative Psychotherapist with the IACP and adheres to the code of ethics of this organisation.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Niamh’s psychotherapeutic approach is rooted in building a genuine and warm therapeutic relationship with her clients. Niamh believes that a supportive therapeutic relationship can nurture growth and foster positive change for clients within psychotherapy. Niamh works in a paced, attuned way that inherently respects where each of her clients are at when they come to this work. Niamh believes that we owe respect to the mechanisms we each develop that offer protection when navigating life’s challenges. Your work together with Niamh, will prompt a deeper exploration and excavation of yourself, your patterns, attitudes and beliefs, and will encourage you to consider the usefulness of these patterns in your daily life.
Niamh offers a trauma informed approach to her work, blending Humanistic, Systemic, Psychodynamic and CBT models of psychotherapy to best meet her client’s individual and distinct needs upon entering your work together. Niamh also draws upon mindfulness, poly-vagal and biodynamic principles and theories, which unify the mind and body in her work with clients.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Niamh has almost a decade of experience working with people across a variety of trauma informed settings including residential care, homeless services and with children and families with neuro-diversity in their homes. Niamh has a number of years experience working with clients in psychotherapy in private practice and community based settings delivering one to one therapy sessions and group based well being sessions too.
Niamh has worked with client issues including but not exclusive to bereavement, infant loss, anxiety, depression, neuro-diversity, relationship issues, self development and family related issues. Niamh’s areas of interest include working with bereavement and end of life related issues.
In addition, Niamh is passionate about working with people overcoming trauma, anxiety, depression, self-esteem challenges, relationship issues, sexuality issues, fertility and pregnancy related issues, challenges surrounding neuro-diversity and self development.
