Maria’s fee is €90 per session.
Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Maria holds a Diploma in Psychotherapy from The Tivoli Institute in Dun Laoghaire. She also holds a Professional Certificate in Family Therapy, together with A Certificate in Counselling from The National University of Ireland Maynooth. Maria holds a Certificate in Intensive specialist training in Somatic Trauma therapy from the world-renowned author and trainer in the field of trauma Babette Rothschild. Maria completed a course in CAMS, Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicide. She is an Accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and adheres to their ethics and code of practice.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Maria’s therapeutic approach is Humanistic & Integrative while embracing person – cantered, gestalt, and other styles of therapy within her work including CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). Maria has a keen interest in anxiety, addiction, co–dependency in relationships, PTSD, eating disorders, and early childhood trauma. During the therapeutic process Maria aims to help the client gain insight into their difficulties or distress in order to establish a greater understanding of their emotions and enable them to find more appropriate ways of coping in their thinking and behaviour. Maria believes the client holds their own answers, and with the support and unconditional positive regard in the therapeutic relationship they can rediscover their true self.
Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Maria has many years’ experience working in Newtownpark Clinic, Blackrock and in Private Practice working with clients on a wide range of issues from eating disorders/distress, substance abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety, abuse, co-dependency, and difficulty in Relationships, PTSD, and suicidal ideation.
