Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation

Judy completed a Diploma in Humanistic & Integrative Psychotherapy with the Tivoli Institute and also a Certificate in Gestalt.  She also regularly participates in ongoing training and professional development including the following:  Supporting Adult Victims/Survivors of child sexual abuse; Sexual Trauma in Adolescence; Understanding the Impact of Coercive Control on Women and Children.

Judy is a fully accredited member of IACP (Irish Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy) and abides by their code of ethics and practice.

Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

As a psychodynamic therapist Judy adopts a humanistic and integrative approach to her practice.  She believes each person has within themselves the potential for healing and growth and aims to guide and support the person to reach that goal.

Each person is unique with their own internal beliefs and Judy meets them in a person-centred way.  She places importance of the therapeutic relationship and aims to provide a safe, non-judgemental and empathic space so that the client may in time feel free to express themselves without fear.

Counselling Experience and areas of Interest

Judy has worked as a professional Psychotherapist for over twenty years.  Having completed training with the Tivoli Institute and the Gestalt Centre she worked in the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre (DRCC).  She also worked in private practice in An Cuan, Centre for Psychological Services in Rathgar where she worked with clients presenting with various issues.

Her work in the DRCC involved facilitating and supporting clients who had suffered sexual violence and child sexual abuse.

Judy also has a wide range of experience dealing with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, family and relationship difficulties etc.
