Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

Jena’s psychotherapeutic approach is primarily humanistic and integrative, whereby she ensures clients have a safe and secure space to explore their emotions and thoughts, enabling increased awareness and growth. At the heart of Jena’s work with clients is the therapeutic relationship, supported by an attitude of empathy, acceptance, non-judgement and curiosity. She draws upon various techniques to facilitate each client, including psychodynamic, sensorimotor, Gestalt and existential psychotherapy and mindfulness.

Jena believes we are all complex, dynamic and unique individuals who have a natural tendency toward healing. Jena supports clients in accessing and strengthening their internal resources, while also identifying and cultivating external supports. Together, Jena and her clients work to harness these resources to navigate life’s challenges with greater clarity, confidence, and purpose.

This diversity has deepened Jena’s appreciation for each person’s unique story and informed her commitment to providing culturally sensitive, affirming, and individualised psychotherapy.

She also works in third level education for counselling and psychotherapy at PCI College, supporting the next generation of therapists in their placements and clinical work.

Jena’s special interests in her work with individuals are anxiety, depression, relationships, family life, gender and sexuality, life-transitions, self-esteem, workplace issues, stress management, grief and loss.
