Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

For me, psychotherapy is a journey of exploration where you, as the client, make the (often difficult) decision to allow me, as the therapist, into your inner world. As you are the one taking the risk, you will control the pace of this journey. My role is to accept your invitation and to support you as you navigate towards your own ‘true north’ – a place where you are able to express yourself freely and authentically.

To help you get there, I pay attention for signs of aliveness and vibrancy (both in you and in me). Whether it is a change in tone, a shift in posture, or a bubbling up of emotion, etc. together we can use these signs to help navigate towards healthy expression of your feelings and emotions.”

Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest

James has experience in one-to-one psychotherapy, in biodynamic massage, and in facilitating groups.

He works with clients who are struggling with anger, anxiety, loneliness, low self-esteem, grief, and depression.

James has a particular interest in body (or somatic) psychotherapy but is broadly in favour of any intervention which helps people to rediscover their innate capacity to live their lives more easily, more fully and more joyously.
