Michael's fee is €100 per 60 minute session

Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation

Michael holds a Degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from Institute of Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. He is also a qualified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner accredited by the European Association for Somatic Experiencing and Somatic Experiencing International®. Currently he is undertaking a professional training course titled Transforming the Experience-Based Brain (Transforming Touch®) with Dr. Stephen Terrell to deepen his understanding on how to treat and heal early developmental trauma. Michael is an accredited psychotherapist with the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP) and abides by their code of ethics.

Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

As a therapist, Michael believes in the transformative power of human connections on our overall well-being. He recognizes that our relationships with others serve as the cornerstone of our physical and mental health. However, he also acknowledges that many of us struggle to find genuine ease and trust in these connections due to various life experiences, and perhaps have never been able to be fully at ease with other human beings. In his practice, Michael sees his role as that of a facilitator, providing a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their obstacles and work towards overcoming them. He understands that each individual's journey is unique, and thus, tailors his approach to suit the specific needs and preferences of the client. Michael firmly believes that clients are the experts on their own lives, and his primary duty is to foster curiosity and offer insights to help them discover new possibilities and experiences. For Michael, therapy is not merely about problem-solving but also about fostering self-awareness, personal growth and he believes it is important for us to connect with our bodies and tune into the signals they are giving us, treating them as a unique form of intelligence. He views each client's journey as a unique voyage towards a happier and more fulfilling life. Through collaborative efforts and honest dialogue, Michael strives to create an environment where clients can flourish and realize their fullest potential."

Counselling Experience & Areas of Interest

Michael has successfully supported adults facing a diverse array of challenges, including anxiety, depression, co-dependency, spirituality, low self-esteem, relationship issues, loss and bereavement, work-related concerns, family dynamics, assertiveness, problematic anger, resilience, developmental trauma, and CPTSD (Complex post-traumatic stress disorder). Recognizing the specialized nature of certain issues, Michael is currently undergoing additional training to deepen his understanding of how unresolved trauma impacts both the body and mind. A particular focus of Michael's practice lies in exploring the intricacies of stress and anxiety management. While challenges are inevitable, Michael is intrigued by the innate human capacity to enhance resilience and bolster tolerance toward stress. In therapeutic collaboration with his clients, Michael concentrates on cultivating novel approaches to stress management and building resilience, especially when life unfolds differently than anticipated. Emphasizing the importance of mindfulness, Michael believes that being present fosters attentiveness, compassion, curiosity, care, and self-awareness, contributing to the holistic well-being of individuals on their therapeutic journey.
