Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation

Bonnie holds a masters in Art Psychotherapy, but uses a range of modalities, built up with over 17 years of experience. She specialises in trauma recovery with extensive experience in recovery from addiction & narcissistic-abuse. She has a strong background in group facilitation and also works with clients individually. Bonnie King holds a Masters in Sociology, from the University of Limerick and a Masters in Art Psychotherapy, from Cork institute of technology. She is fully accredited and registered with IACAT; Irish Association of Creative Arts Therapists. She has completed Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training ASSIST, and has direct experience working with Pieta.

Counselling and Therapeutic Approach

Bonnie works within a holistic framework of mind-body-spirit. Her approach integrates traditional talk therapy with Art Therapy, Meditation, Drama Therapy, automatic writing, and somatic techniques, including EFT (tapping) EMDR & Psychomotor Therapy. She draws flexibly on what works in each moment (Person-Centered). Weaving in approaches such as Jungian, Transpersonal, Mindfulness-Based (MBCT), Compassion Focused, Gestalt (role-play) Attachment-Based, Humanistic & Systemic therapies. Bonnie has also developed her own immersive model, designed for deep, transformative work, while maintaining a safe, gentle, and engaging environment. Bonnie is passionate about helping people not only recover but also to transform their relationship with themselves and, in turn, with life. She views painful experiences as part of a larger process for growth, offering opportunities to release harmful self-beliefs and move toward a more authentic, free, meaningful, peaceful & fulfilling existence.

Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest

Bonnie has extensive experience facilitating groups for people in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction, and is also open to (& has experience in) working with individuals in active addiction and their family members. She also specialises in relationship issues, particularly in recovering from Narcissistic Abuse, along with attachment issues & codependency. She has worked with adults and young people through individual therapy, with a wide range of experience. Her areas of interest also include identity challenges, loss of direction, and overwhelm. Her work helps clients transform patterns born of pain into a, deeper self-understanding, freedom, and authenticity.

• Individual sessions (50 mins) -  €80
• Group Workshops on addiction recovery (2 hrs.) - €25 pp [group rates available]
• Extended 2-hour individual sessions using Bonnie’s unique therapy model are also available (recommended) - €150
