Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Naomi Garrett trained at the University of Cambridge and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic Counselling (UPCA/ UKCP accredited). She also holds a Master’s in Education (MEd) from the University of Leeds, where the focus of her study examined uses of Trauma Informed Interventions with children who had experienced profound Loss and Complex Bereavement.
Naomi has additional Post Graduate training (QUB) in: Child Development; Early Years Play-based Learning and Interventions; SEN (Special Educational Needs) – Neuro Diversity and ASD .
Actively engaged in Continuing Professional Development, both her own and in the delivery of training for other allied professionals, Naomi holds specialist certification in:
Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (University of Cambridge) – an evidence-based treatment for complex trauma, reactive attachment issues (RAD), and associated presentations.
Theraplay (University of Cambridge) – a child and parent /family focused therapy that fosters and supports healthy child/caregiver attachment.

Note – Naomi trained in the UK and is a member of a UK governing body. Clients are advised to check with their Irish Health Insurance providers prior to commencing therapy with Naomi, to clarify if their fees will be considered for re-imbursement.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
While working across the age span in her adult practice, Naomi offers specialism in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counselling, informed by Integrative and Attachment based theory and interventions. The latter often making use of the Arts and Sand tray work in the therapeutic frame.
Supporting this work is Naomi’s deep, wide-ranging and long-serving experience in Intervention, Advisory and Educational roles in private and public bodies in Ireland, Northern Ireland, the UK and Europe (Italy).
Naomi has experience both as a Clinician and Trainer, working in Educational and Mental Health sectors for public, private and charity bodies.

Much of Naomi’s client practice centres around Anxiety presentations; Attachment Issues and creating supportive care pathways for a variety of conditions, before, during and after diagnoses. These include, but are not limited to; ASD; ADHD; ADD; ODD; PDA; OCD.

Naomi has held roles within the Education Authority of Northern Ireland (ASD Intervention and Advisory Service- Primary and Post Primary; The Early Years Intervention Service; Language and Literacy Support Service. 2014 – 2018); Clinical roles in Schools’ Counselling and Community Counselling- one to one, dyadic and group work with children and young people, Parent Work (Jigsaw NI 2017 – 2022); Private Practice -Adult and Young People, Psychotherapy and Counselling (Thinking Together – H and N Counselling, Belfast 2017 – present).
Outside Ireland and the UK Naomi has engaged in research and shared practice with allied health care provision facilitated by the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles ( CHLA -Literally Healing Foundation)
Naomi also has extensive experience of MDT (multidisciplinary team) work and report writing to support statutory and private assessment (2014- present).
