Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Naomi Garrett trained at the University of Cambridge and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychodynamic Psychotherapeutic Counselling (UPCA/ UKCP accredited). She also holds a master’s in education (MEd) from the University of Leeds, in English as an Additional Language and Education -Working Therapeutically with Lone Child Refugees – Trauma Informed Intervention work – Transition, Loss and Complex Bereavement.
Naomi also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Child Development; The Early Years -Play-based Learning and Interventions; SEN (special educational needs) – Inclusion and Diversity.
Naomi’s additional qualifications include Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy which is an evidence-based treatment for complex trauma, reactive attachment issues (RAD), and other issues with attachment. She has also trained in “Theraplay” which is a child and family therapy working to support healthy child/caregiver attachment.
In addition, Naomi has trained in the following:
· Working with High Conflict Post Separation Families, in Autistic Spectrum Disorder and TEACHH – (ASD Focus)
· Trauma and Grief in the Classroom
· Understanding and Managing SEBD (Social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties)
· Understanding SEN (special educational needs)
· Disordered Eating
· Working with Teenagers.
Naomi engages in regular supervision and actively pursues continuing professional development.
Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
While working across the age span with adult clients, Naomi offers specialism in Child / Adolescent and Parent Counselling, informed by Integrative and Attachment based theory and interventions.
She has deep, wide ranging and long-serving experience in Therapeutic, Intervention, Advisory and Educational roles in both private and public bodies in Ireland, Northern Ireland, the UK and Europe (Italy).
Naomi has experience both as a Clinician and Trainer, working in the Therapeutic, Education, Charity and Private sector.

Naomi has held roles within the Education Authority of Northern Ireland (ASD Intervention and Advisory Service- Primary and Post Primary; The Early Years Intervention Service; Language and Literacy Support Service. 2014 – 2018); Clinical roles in Schools’ Counselling and Community Counselling- one to one, dyadic and group work with children and young people, Parent work (Jigsaw NI 2017 – 2022); Private Practice -Adult and Young People, Psychotherapy and Counselling (Thinking Together – H and N Counselling, Belfast 2017 – present).
She also has extensive experience of MDT (multidisciplinary team) work and report writing to support statutory and private assessment (2014- present) pathways.
