Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

Prioritising presence, deep listening, and relational depth, Ashley believes in the healing potential of a trusting relationship. Working collaboratively with clients, Ashley seeks to co-create a place of safety and connection where clients may be free to explore who they are in the world and tap into their unfolding potential.

Ashley integrates a range of psychological theory into his counselling and psychotherapy practice. This includes humanistic psychology and existential philosophy, polyvagal theory, social constructionism, and neuropsychology.

Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest

Ashley has worked with clients from diverse backgrounds and who present with a variety of experiences and concerns. Most recently he has provided counselling and psychotherapy to students at UCD, and throughout his career in mental health nursing has worked in a variety of settings including acute mental health services, and a specialist centre for people living with histories of complex trauma.

Taking a trauma-informed approach, Ashley’s particular areas of interest include working with clients who have experienced difficult and traumatic childhoods, and who are healing from the effects of harmful parenting.

As a neurodivergent individual, Ashley also takes an interest in working with individuals to discover and celebrate their uniqueness, while disentangling themselves from stories and stereotypes that have been imposed upon them, and which may obscure their wonderful individuality.

Ashley is LGBTQIA+ affirmative and stands against all forms of oppression, discrimination and prejudice.  This includes (but is not limited to) ableism, antiblackness, antisemitism, classism, homophobia, islamophobia, racism, sexism, and transphobia.  He also recognises that these are often overlapping.

Ashley’s fee is €80 per session
