Clonskeagh Counselling & Psychological Services

How do I find a therapist?

When beginning to look for a psychotherapist it is important to find someone who you feel will be able to listen, empathise and support you along your personal journey, you may spend time researching what type of therapy would work best for you.  It can feel overwhelming trying to make a choice when there are so many options, you feel like you want to make the ‘right’ one.

Our team in Mind and Body Works can help make this decision that bit easier for you, we know the specific issues that our therapists are trained to work with and can help navigate you towards working with the most suitable therapist for you. Our therapists work with their clients and will tailor their approach to best suit your needs in therapy, this allows a collaboration between therapist and client to emphasise the importance of the therapeutic relationship.

When you are choosing a therapist, location can be an important factor. By starting into a new routine of attending psychotherapy sessions you want to know that you will not be putting too much pressure on yourself to find the time in your schedule to attend.

If you are looking for counselling and therapy services in the Clonskeagh area, Mind and Body Works have 3 dedicated counselling centres in very convenient locations. Who is psychotherapy for?

Anyone can benefit from counselling and psychotherapy, usually when you are facing times of change or are experiencing emotional distress that you may feel you cannot handle by yourself. This can be a time that you feel you may want to reach out and talk to someone, you may feel that you need an external view over your life and how you view yourself.

You do not need to have hit ‘rock bottom’ before starting counselling or psychotherapy. If you start to recognise behaviour patterns within yourself or your life that you are not comfortable with you can work with a therapist to understand how to manage your behaviours before you feel that you are in crisis.

Is my therapist qualified?

All of our therapists at Mind and Body Works have completed their necessary training to work as a psychotherapist, some have completed additional training in specific modalities to complete specialised work with clients i.e. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychosexual Therapy, Couples and Relationship Therapy. Each therapist is accredited or working towards their accreditation with the necessary regulated bodies such as the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP), the Irish Association of Humanistic and Integrative Psychotherapy (IAHIP) and the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI).

Our qualified professional counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists and CBT therapists are trained to work closely with you to enable you to explore thoughts, beliefs, feelings, issues and behaviours that affect your life negatively. Through the counselling and psychotherapy process you are given the support and safety to explore, understand and, often, to change these thoughts, beliefs, feelings and behaviours. This will allow you to enter into a new stage of personal growth whereby you can recognise your old negative patterns and make a conscious decision to not repeat them again. This change can form over time but once you begin to see the impact it has on your life you will gain a new found sense of confidence within yourself.
