Maura received her B.Sc. in Humanistic Counselling and Psychotherapy from the University of Middlesex in 2010. She also holds a Bachelor of Social Studies (Social Work) from Trinity College Dublin. She is currently undertaking a Diploma in Supervision with Super-Vision Training Institute (Limerick). Maura is a fully accredited member of the IACP and a CORU registered Social Worker and works within their ethical codes.Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
Maura’s therapeutic approach is integrative, informed by psychodynamic and systemic therapies. She values working collaboratively, with compassion, empathy and warmth. Maura believes that unconscious patterns of thinking and behaviour develop over our lives. Therapy provides a space to bring such patterns into awareness, consider whether they are serving us, and foster new and more fulfilling ways of being.Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Maura has over twenty years clinical experience of working with clients affected by abuse and trauma. She worked for many years as a therapeutic clinician and service manager with young people and families affected by sexual abuse. She also has significant experience of working with mental health issues such as depression, anxiety and self-image issues, including eating disorders. She also has experience of working with clients who are neuro-diverse and the LGBTQI+ community. Maura is interested in the impact of early patterns of attachment on our lives, relationships and self-image. She believes that the safety and containment of the therapeutic relationship offers the opportunity to examine and understand these patterns, so that healing and greater self-awareness can be achieved. Maura welcomes referrals from adult clients (over 18 yrs).Maura's fee is €75 per session
