Psychotherapy Training & Accreditation
Olive holds a BSc Hons Degree in Counselling & Psychotherapy from Middlesex University and a Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy from PCI College. Olives focus for her BSc degree was in group therapy and sexual dysfunction and abuse. Olive completed a course in CAMS, Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicide, Positive Behavioural Coaching and Mental Health First Aid. She is currently pursuing a course in Addiction Studies.
Olive is an accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (IACP).
Counselling & Psychotherapeutic Approach
Olive’s approach is person centred, humanistic and with an integrative style to best meet the needs of the client. Olive believes that an integrative approach is necessary to help build and nurture a therapeutic space for the client to explore their issues and build resilience to the challenges of life. Olive believes that the client is always at the centre of the process and that in working collaboratively with the client supports the therapeutic relationship.
She incorporates the theoretical approaches of Person-centred Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Reality Therapy which then enables her to work in a way that best suits the needs of each individual client.
Counselling Experience & Areas of Interest
Olive has worked for a number of years as a Psychotherapist in Sosad and The Open Door Project. She has extensive experience of working with adults who are experiencing suicidal ideation and/or self-harming.
Olive’s experience also includes working with those who have been bereaved by suicide. Olive has experience of working with individuals on a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, stress, family relationship issues, bereavement, drug & alcohol addiction, sexual abuse/dysfunction and homelessness.
