Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach

Irene’s training is in the Humanistic and Integrative model of psychotherapy while incorporating approaches in the Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), psychodynamic and body orientated therapies. Irene also uses the practice of Mindfulness in her work which is shown to be very effective in areas of depression, anxiety and panic attacks.

She believes that the therapy room can provide a safe, confidential and a non-judgmental environment which allows the person to express their personal difficulties, fears, expectations and hopes. Irene believes that the relationship between the therapist and client is of the utmost importance and that the therapy room can provide a place where the client can begin to develop an understanding and come to a self awareness of their own strengths and their capacity to overcome their difficulties.
