About Me

Gina is an Accredited Therapist and Supervisor with the I.A.C.P. and has been in Private Practice for close to twenty years and a Supervisor for over ten years.  In Private practice she has a wide range of experience working with Adults of all ages, backgrounds and diversities and with a broad range of presenting issues.  As a Supervisor she has a wealth of experience working with individuals and small groups from Student to Experienced Accredited therapists.

Gina was born and raised in Dublin and started her work life in Commercial Banking.  From the late ‘90s she began her journey into the counselling world by completing a two-year diploma in Counselling Skills with St. Patrick’s College Maynooth.  This brought her to studying for a degree in Psychology and a Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy and eventually a Certificate in Supervision, within this many other courses and training were completed.

Gina has a particular interest in bereavement and loss and has trained and volunteered with the Irish Hospice and started a Rainbows group in Co. Wicklow.  She remains passionate about her work and enjoys the particular dynamic of Supervision both as a Supervisor and Supervisee and encourages a supportive, trusting and respectful environment for both clients and Supervisees.

My Supervision Model

Gina trained in The Cyclical Model of Supervision and The Seven Eyed Model where the focus is on the relationship between client, therapist and supervisor and the interplay between each relationship and context within the wider system. As a humanistic and Integrative therapist, she incorporates this into her Supervision work e.g., transference & countertransference, parallel process etc.  In addition a developmental model that considers the progressive stages of the supervisee is considered.

Her aim is to build a supportive, trusting and respectful relationship for open and collaborative learning in which the supervisee is able to discuss clients, personal and clinical challenges and ask questions.  In addition to develop a passion and curiosity around the work, a respect for the profession whilst adhering to professional and ethical boundaries.

My Experience as A Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Supervisor

Gina graduated with a degree in Psychology in 1998 a Diploma in Counselling & Psychotherapy in 2003 and certificate in Supervision in 2010.  She has been in Private Practice since 2002 and first accredited with IACP in 2004 and as a Supervisor in 2010.

Gina has also volunteered with the Accreditation Committee with the IACP.  She has a wealth of experience as a Psychotherapist working with Adults from 18 upwards from all walks of life, diversities and issues.  As a Supervisor she works one to one and with small groups from Students to Experiences therapists and very cognizant of the developmental stages of the Supervisee.
