Counselling & Psychotherapeutic Approach
Gemma has extensive clinical experience supporting both adults and adolescents in a therapeutic setting. Her approach is integrative, humanistic, gestalt and person centred. She provides a quiet, confidential and supportive space for all clients. The relationship with her clients is central to her work and building a strong, therapeutic bond is a core component of this.
When working with adolescents, and their parents (both together and separately), she offers a safe and supportive environment for the adolescent to express and explore emotions, and understand issues or concerns that inhibit their natural emotional growth and development, while always respecting the unique identity of each family unit.
Counselling Experience & Areas of Interest
Gemma has worked as a Psychotherapist in Galway City for several years and in that time has worked with a wide range of issues, some of which include: Anxiety, Depression, Stress, Grief, Relationship Issues, Work Related Issues and Trauma. She has also worked for a number of years with Galway Rape Crisis Centre and has extensive experience working with both adults and adolescents who have experienced Sexual Trauma.
