Psychotherapy Training and Accreditation
Britta is a fully qualified Counselling Psychologist. She completed her doctorate in Counselling Psychology in Trinity College Dublin. She also holds an MA in Applied Psychology and Mental Health in University College Cork and an undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology from Trinity College Dublin. Britta is trained in Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, and Person-Centred Therapy. As a counselling psychologist, Britta is also trained in psychological assessment and formulation of clients’ difficulties, and approaches each client’s experience from a holistic perspective. Britta is a graduate member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) and adheres to its code of ethics and its requirement for regular supervision and continued professional development.Counselling and Psychotherapeutic Approach
First and foremost, Britta prioritises building strong therapeutic relationships with her clients based on warmth, safety, empathy, openness and collaboration as the basis for therapy and change. Britta’s approach as a psychologist is integrative, meaning she draws on several types of therapies based on her clients’ needs and preferences, which she explores with clients at the beginning of therapy and throughout. Britta frequently draws on emotion-focused therapy which focuses on transforming the painful emotions underlying mental health difficulties such as anxiety or low mood. Alongside facilitating long-term change, Britta is also happy to collaborate with clients to develop practical strategies for getting through difficult times.Counselling Experience and Areas of Interest
Britta has experience working with clients with a range of difficulties from mild to more severe levels (see below). She has worked with adults as well as children, adolescents and families and welcomes clients from age 16. Britta has previously worked in the public health service, in a university setting and with charitable organisations. Areas with experience:- Anxiety
